EURO 2012: The winner is...

This has already us all know who was!!! Yesterday Spain did what no team had done before: get three consecutive titles of selections championships.

Already had to guess that yesterday's game would give much to talk about. And in fact gave ... but not in the sense that people expected. Spain beat Italy by 4 -0, a goal difference than ever before in the finals of a European championship. 


For almost the entire game, Italy was concentrated in the antagonisms and left many open among its players, who were taken advantage of by Spain.
Italy was a team that ran a lot in the field, but rarely to the sites "right."
Italy did very well on offense, positioning, shooting, fighting, set-pieces. The problem was on the defensive organization.
Even more surprising was the fact that Italy had more ball possession than Spain, which is very rare with the opponents of Spain. In fact, since the beginning of the game but especially in the 2nd part, Italy created many dangerous situations: the problem was its completion.

As I said previously the two finalist teams have met in the group phase. In that game, in which both teams tied, Italy was much better than the game yesterday: if the tactical scheme had been the same, the outcome of the game probably would have been different.
But Italy is to be congratulated for having managed to reach the final, because the majority of the public bet that they would not even bet that the semi-finals.
Although Prandelli be responsible for the success of bringing Italy to the final, the audacity entered in the form of team playing, ponders his resignation. A new way to play introduced by Prandelli also meets resistance from conservatism of Italian football.

EURO 2012: final today

And today we reach the grand final of the European football championship held since June 8th, in Poland and Ukraine.

In this game faced two teams that have won this championship, and one is on the verge of getting into the history of European and world football. If Spain win today, will be the first team ever to achieve three consecutive titles after winning the 2008 European and World cup of 2010.
Sure that favoritism is mainly on the Spanish side, but Del Bosque's team will face an Italy that is very surprised by the increase in performance throughout the tournament.

And the great figure who has contributed to all this Italian strength is Mario Balotelli, seen worldwide as "eccentric" and a little "crazy", but which is largely responsible for where Italy is now. 
But of course I must also mention Pirlo, who until now was the only player in the European to receive the title of best player on the field in three games.
Also Buffon, the goalkeeper, is a prominent figure in the Italian team, which has defended exceptionally well the goal of the Italian team.
These two players are the only of the team that played at the time when Italy won the 2006 World Cup.

Italy is a team that has become very competitive in this European. The way they play is based on Juventus: the more technical game players bring from their clubs, the easier it will get a technical characterizing the team.

Euro 2012: Portugal ficou pelas meias-finais

Bem... não vale a pena estar a repetir o resultado de ontem.
Não é por ser português, ou por não gostar de nada que venha do país que temos azar de estar ao nosso lado, mas a Espanha não tem mérito nenhum em ir à final. Aliás, a Espanha nem sequer teve mérito para sair da fase de grupos: quem viu o jogo Espanha x Croácia, sabe que houve duas grandes penalidades que deviam ter sido assinaladas a favor da Croácia, mas que o árbitro, por razões que apenas ele deve saber, resolveu ignorar essas faltas.

Voltando ao jogo, Portugal contrariou o que é hábito e que eu já referi anteriormente: é muito raro a equipa adversária de Espanha não sofrer nenhum golo, e ontem verificou-se a excepção.
E parece que não é só em Portugal que o público se surpreendeu positivamente pela prestação portuguesa. Para além dos elogios dos espanhóis, que depois de vencerem o jogo nada lhes custa elogiar quem mandaram para casa, em países como França, Inglaterra, Brasil e Argentina, a prestação portuguesa em todo o europeu, mas muito mais no jogo das meias-finais, foi sobejamente elogiada.

Infelizmente, por mais que a selecção portuguesa esteja de parabéns (e de facto está), a vitória foi de Espanha: quem seguiu em frente e quem merece festejar são os espanhóis.
Para além do jogo, que mostrou uma grande capacidade de iniciativa e que conseguiu posicionar-se bem em campo para travar as investidas espanholas, vou apenas falar sobre os penalties.

Mas antes disso, convém fixa bem esta imagem, que mostra aquilo que o árbitro de ontem mostrou saber fazer melhor: dar cartões amarelos aos jogadores portugueses.

Tive sempre receio que o jogo se fosse decidido nos penalties pois, daí vêm sempre grandes surpresas, e a pior equipa pode derrotar a melhor. E, ao contrário do jogo Itália X Inglaterra, ontem foi o que aconteceu: a Espanha que jogou bem abaixo das expectativas, acabou por ganhar antes de esgotar os 5 remates para Portugal, e falhando apenas o penalti marcado por Xabi Alonso, contra todas as expectativas: nos treinos para a meia-final, a equipa espanhola treinou os penálties, e Alonso destacou-se pela positiva. Só que no jogo, acabou por dar esperanças... aos portugueses.

Infelizmente, o ponto mais negativo dos penaltis portugueses foi o penalti marcado por João Moutinho, que contrariou todo o bom desempenho feito por este jogador ao longo do europeu. Surpreendeu-me que tenha aberto a série de penaltis portugueses, tendo por base o facto de Moutinho não ser particularmente bem sucedido marcação de penaltis, como se tem verificado na sua temporada no Porto.
Também não estava à espera de ver Bruno Alves a marcar um penalti, que acabou por dar o momento mais desgostoso para todos os adeptos portugueses. Só mais tarde percebi porque foi Bruno Alves tentar marcar o penalti que deveria ser de Nani. Foi neste europeu, que deixou de ser obrigatório seguir a ordem dos jogadores, da forma que é apresentada ao árbitro.
E claro, seria impossível não falar na polémica de deixar Cristiano Ronaldo para o fim. Sendo mesmo o 10º jogador a marcar (porque quem começou a rematar foi a Espanha), as probabilidades indicam que na maior parte das vezes, esse jogador nunca chega a rematar, porque o jogo é decido antes. Mas de facto, nos últimos jogos oficiais de Portugal neste tipo de campeonatos, Ronaldo tem ficado sempre entre os últimos.

Mas, apesar de todo o optimismo que se criou à medida que se via o excelente jogo de Portugal ao longo dos 90minutos e do prolongamento, Fabregas acabou com os sonhos portugueses e mostrou-se arrependido por ter pedido à família para não o ter ido ao vivo à Ucrânia.

Da participação de Portugal neste Europeu, saiu uma verdadeira equipa, bem definida e consistente. Tudo graças a Paulo Bento, que reavivou uma equipa destroçada pelo empate com o Chipre e a derrota com a Noruega, no início da fase de qualificação para este europeu. Portugal recuperou a competitividade que estava a perder desde o Mundial de 2006. O colectivo conseguiu aos poucos fazer sobressair a equipa sobre as individualidades. E de facto foi uma recuperação inigualável desde o início do apuramento (em que quase todos acreditavam que Portugal não se iria qualificar) até ao início do europeu, em que o bom desempenho de Portugal fez um país começar a sonhar mais alto.

Para além de Cristiano Ronaldo que deixo o resto do mundo falar, e de Nani que eu apreciei bastante em todo o Europeu, e também de Postiga que fez uma falta enorme no jogo de ontem, destaco mesmo Pepe, que foi a verdadeira figura da equipa: jogou sempre com alma, conseguindo motivar e orientar os seus colegas, tanto em campo como fora dele.

E se Portugal surpreendeu ontem pela positiva, o que falar de Itália, que não nos para de surpreender, mais uma vez através do "Super" Mario Balotelli que foi o grande responsábel pela vitória de hoje. Marcou os dois golos italianos logo na 1ª parte, mostrando ser um grande jogador (o seu 2º golo, tão cedo não se irá apagar da memória de quem o viu). Quanto a Alemanha. deixou muito a desejar sobretudo na 1ª parte. Teve apenas uma boa oportunidade antes de Balotelli marcar o 2º golo,e na 2º parte conseguiu recuperar mas, apesar do golo já no prolongamento, reforçou a estatística de nunca ter conseguido derrotar a Itália em fases finais de campeonatos.

A Itália nunca perdeu o rigor defensivo que a caracteriza, e esteve sempre pronta a atacar. Este resultado veio erguer o pessimismo e a desconfiança que se estava a associar ao futebol italiano.
Apesar do favoritismo alemão, e de ter recuperado na 2ªparte, a Alemanha teve muitas oportunidades que não foram aproveitadas.

O favoritismo para o jogo de Domingo mantém-se com os espanhóis. Pode até ter aumentado com a saída da Alemanha. Mas quem tiver o mínimo de "juízo" saberá que a Itália poderá continuar a surpreender, apesar de Espanha ter excelentes jogadores para além do 11 titular.

Pelo menos uma coisa já a Espanha ganhou: uma multa atribuída pela UEFA juntamente com a Russia, pelos comportamentos racistas nos nos jogos do EURO 2012. E por mim, espero bem que a Espanha não ganhe mais nada...

Para terminar, volto a falar de Portugal, e das esperanças que nasceram com este campeonato. Temos uma equipa jovem, que tem enorme potencialidade, e que deve continuar junta para o Mundial de 2014. Alem disso, Portugal continua a ser o único pais a deter o recorde de ter passado a fase de grupos, sempre que marcou presença num Campeonato Europeu de Futebol.

Euro 2012: Portugal nas meias-finais

Faltam poucas horas para Portugal voltar a entrar em campo, e tentar repetir a proeza de 2004 e estar novamente na final de um campeonato europeu. Portugal já está entre as 4 melhores equipas deste europeu... mas para seguir para as 2 melhores tem que enfrentar a vizinha Espanha.

Como eu já disse anteriormente, desde a equipa do Brasil de 1970 que o mundo não conhecia uma seleção tão vitoriosa como a Espanha. E o facto de ter chegado até esta fase com um dos melhores percursos neste europeu (só ultrapassada pela Alemanha), está a dar um enorme optimismo à seleção espanhola.
No entanto, a passagem desta fase depende apenas de um jogo e aí, até a melhor seleção do mundo pode fracassar. Portugal deverá ter enorme cuidado táctico e ter perfeita noção que jogar contra os espanhóis não é o mesmo que jogar contra os checos. Portugal volta a estar perante uma forte equipa, com a desvantagem de que desta vez, tudo depende do seu jogo e só uma vitória pode conduzir Portugal para a final.
Mas convenhamos que, com a pressão quase toda do lado espanhol, Portugal não tem nada a perder neste jogo, e tem a vantagem (se bem que não é assim tão importante como muitos tendem a pensar) de mais 48 de descanso: uma derrota de Portugal não vai surpreender tanto como uma derrota espanhola.

A seleção espanhola tem por base as tácticas de jogo e a equipa do Barcelona, que terminou a temporada com dificuldades, e apresentou ao longo do campeonato algumas fraquezas que nos fazem ter certeza de uma coisa: esta equipa espanhola está aquém da equipa que ganhou tanto o Europeu de 2008 como o Mundial de 2010.
Já no caso português, à excepção de Cristiano Ronaldo, não tem outros jogadores com tanto desgaste físico como os jogadores espanhóis.

Do lado dos aspectos positivos, a seleção espanhola é praticamente perfeita: tem uma forma de jogar muito horizontal, troca bastante a bola a meio-campo e repentinamente faz lances verticais.
Além disso, é muito raro um adversário espanhol não sofrer golos. Por isso, se Portugal tiver que resolver o jogo nas penalidades, terá obrigatoriamente que marcar um golo, pois será quase impossível um empate a zero.

Do lado português, para além de Cristiano Ronaldo (que os meios de comunicação social estão fartos de falar, e por isso não vale a pena estar aqui a falar nesse assunto pela milionésima vez), a equipa conta com outros grandes jogadores. Infelizmente, gostava de poder ver novamente Hélder Postiga em campo, um dos jogadores que eu aprecio há já bastante tempo, mas que hoje terá que ser substituído por Hugo Almeida ou Nélson Oliveira, que espero que, seja qual for o escolhido, se mostre à altura.
Quanto aos aspectos negativos, o espírito colectivo ainda deixa muito a desejar, e regra geral Portugal entra em campo muito desconfiado, deixando o adversário mostrar e dominar o jogo. Se isso por vezes acaba por não prejudicar as hipótese de Portugal, hoje terá que ser alterado: primeiro porque só a vitória interessa, e depois porque estamos perante um dos grandes gigantes do futebol europeu e mundial.

Não vale a pena voltar a referir aqui mais qualidades ou defeitos de ambas as seleções, porque já está tudo analisado nas mensagens anteriores. Resta-me apenas acreditar que Portugal já mostrou ter potencial para derrotar a Espanha (como aliás o fez na última vez que as seleções se encontraram, apesar de ter sido num desafio amigável), mas também já cometeu erros que hoje poderão ser fatais.
Resta-me esperar que desta vez Portugal esteja na "mó de cima"...

Euro 2012 - four teams on the verge of title

That have been completed on Sunday the quarter-final, I present here a small commentary on the four games of this phase.

Portugal 1 X Czech Republic 0

At 25 minutes, thanks to a pass from Joao Moutinho, Cristiano Ronaldo made the first serious threat on Czech goal well defended by Čech. Germany 4 X Greece 2

Fernando Santos was perhaps the unluckiest coach in this European, with the goalkeeper and a central hurt, players sent off  and without two important players for the quarter-final.

Despite the favoritism being all on the side of Germany, this game still managed to give a serious warning to other teams: to take the title from Germany will not be easy - Germany is able to show that is here to win everything that appears to forward. This was so far the only game in this championship which we suffered much beyond 90 minutes. It was so far the only game of Euro 2012 in which the teams finished tied for 90 minutes at zero, and had to solve the game with penalties.
Although these were one of the more balanced games in the quarter-finals, Italy was undoubtedly much more dominant, earning the right to win without the need for overtime and penalties. Italy had far more scoring opportunities than England.
In 1st part, Mario Balotelli was very close to the goal twice, but were caught thanks to the enormous tactical discipline of the English. In fact, with the game of Sunday Italy was more than deserving of being in the semis and surprised those who had not it as a favorite: the favoritism continues to lean toward the German side, but Italy can continue to surprise.

Euro 2012 - quatro equipas à beira do título

Terminados que foram ontem os quartos-de-final, aqui apresento uns pequenos comentário aos 4 jogos dessa fase.

Portugal 1 X República Checa 0

Os quartos-de-final inauguraram-se com o encontro de duas seleções que já se tinham encontrado nos quartos-de-final do Europeu de 1996. Também houve apenas um golo marcado, mas dessa vez foi pela República Checa (que acabaria em 2º lugar, nos dos últimos momentos gloriosos da seleção checa, juntamente com a meia-final no europeu de 2004).
Quanto ao jogo, a 1ª parte foi das partes mais estranhas deste Europeu. O que dizer de uma parte onde parecia que faltava paixão e emoção de ambas as partes, em que parecia que ambas as equipas estavam com receio de se aproximarem uma da outra, e onde quase que estavam a jogar só para marcar presença? Para não falar nos execssivos erros técnicos cometidos!
Ainda assim, a primeira tentativa de ameaça à baliza do adversário foi feita pela República Checa, pelo pé de Petr Jiráček, mas sem qualquer sorte. Aos 25 minutos, graças a um passe de João Moutinho, Cristiano Ronaldo faz a primeira ameaça séria à baliza checa, sendo bem defendida por Čech. Ainda na 1ª parte, Cristiano Ronaldo teve a melhor oportunidade para Portugal nessa parte, ao rematar ao poste, depois de receber a bola no peito e ter contornado Michal Kadlec.

Felizmente a 2ª parte foi melhor, ao ponto de Portugal marcar aos 78 minutos, graças a Cristiano Ronaldo, que consumou a remissão que tinha começado no jogo contra a Holanda, afastando completamente qualquer crítica negativa que ainda pudesse persistir sobre o jogador português.

De facto, sobretudo pelo que se passou na 2ª parte, Portugal mereceu ganhar e, convenhamos, por uma vantagem bem maior.
A República Checa só reagiu ao ponto de se constituir uma ameaça quase no final do jogo, mas não impediu que a posse de bola fosse maioritariamente portuguesa.
Os checos correram que se fartaram, mas as oportunidades de golo foram muito poucas, e insignificantes comparadas com as portuguesas.

De uma maneira geral, não foi um jogo marcado por grandes incidentes nem confusões em campo. Foi até bastante calmo para uns quartos-de-final.

Com esta vitória, Portugal empurrou para fora do campeonato, a única seleção da Europa de Leste ainda em prova. Assim, uma coisa agora é certa: a vitória será de um país Ocidental...

Alemanha 4 X Grécia 2

Fernando Santos foi talvez dos selecionadores mais azarados neste Europeu: com o guarda-redes e um central magoados, jogadores expulsos e sem 2 importantes jogadores para os quartos-de-final.

Apesar do favoritismo estar todo do lado da Alemanha, com este jogo conseguiu mesmo assim dar um aviso sério às outras seleções: tirar o título à Alemanha não vai ser nada fácil -  A Alemanha conseguiu mostrar que está aqui para ganhar tudo o que lhe aparecer à frente. A Grécia deu tudo o que tinha, sobretudo na 2ª parte, mas não foi suficiente para lidar com o jogo psicológico feito pela Alemanha e, mesmo tirando Mario Gomez, conseguiu um efeito surpresa e de imprevisibilidade que desorientaram os adversários. O treinador, tem uma capacidade de criar tácticas que depresa se adaptam a qualquer circunstância. De facto, as alterações feitas à equipa alemã, apesar de surpeenderem, mostraram ser bem pensadas.

Os germânicos entraram a todo o gás, mas depois de várias tentativas, só aos 38 minutos conseguiram marcar o 1º golo.

A primeira parte foi completamente dominada pela Alemanha. Só na 2ª parte é que a Grécia se consegue destacar e empatar aos 55 minutos. Mas, logo depois e quase até oa final do jogo, é a Alemanha que volta a dominar.
A Grécia ainda conseguiu minimizar a diferença graças a um livre, mas cedo se percebeu que o destino do jogo ficaria por ali: sem Karagounis, não havia nenhum jogador grego em campo, que rivalizasse com a equipa alemã, à excepção de Katsouranis.
O futebol ofensivo alemão tem enorme alrgura, que consegue contornar qualquer defesa adversária. Apesar da Grécia ser sempre defensiva em todo o jogo, chegou uma altura em que parecia que defendiam ao desespero: o jogo quase que se reduzia ao ataque da Alemanha e à defesa da Grécia.

Fernando Santos tentou inverter depois do intervalo, a sua táctica de jogo, e de facto a equipa ficou mais forte e mais atacante, estendendo-se mais em campo, mas cujas limitações que permaneceram, foram aproveitadas pela Alemanha.
A defesa poderia ter sido mais forte e estava mal formada: permaneciam muito distantes dos avançados, deixando espaços abertos que foram muito bem aproveitados pela Alemanha.

Quanto ao futuro, a Grécia terá dificuldade em criar uma nova seleção, mas esta equipa está com muitos jogadores em fim de carreira.

E claro que neste jogo foi impossívelnão associar economia e futebol. Angela Merkel esteve presente no jogo, sendo até agora o único governante político a assistir um jogo na Ucrânia: todos os outros chefes de Estado recusaram-se a assistir a um jogo na Ucrânia. E claro que era impossível não reparar que encontraram-se no mesmo jogo, o país acusado de provocar a austeridade, e o país que a impôs a toda a Europa.

Espanha 2 X França 0

Pela primeira vez em jogos oficiais, a Espanha derrotou a França.

Este foi um dos jogos em que uma das equipas mais surpreendeu pela negativa. Falo claro está da França, que parecia estar em campo quase sem reação. Para tal, contribuíram sem dúvida as confusões no balneário: houve mesmo agressões físicas e troca de ofensas com o treinador. Três jogadores possivelmente titulares ficaram fora deste jogo.

Quanto à vencedora, deste o Brasil de 1970 que o mundo não conhecia uma seleção tão vitoriosa como a Espanha, que mostrou mais uma vez porque merece perfilar entre as mais fortes do mundo. Somam 10 jogos sem perder em fases finais do Campeonato. Claro que, nesta altura apenas um jogo determina o destino de cada seleção, e aqui até a mairo seleção do mundo pode perder.

E convenhamos que à medida que o jogo se desenrolava, a vitória de Espanha estava mais do que assegurada: os centrais franceses estavam sem pontos de referência e pareciam desorientados perante o ataque espanhol. A França estava sem qualquer motivação para jogar. No entanto, a França mostrou que é possível conter as oportunidades de golo da Espanha, mas não conseguiu demonstrar capacidades de resposta ofensiva: bloquear a capacidade ofensiva espanhola e impedir a criação de oportunidades de golo é a vantagem para derrotar a Espanha.

Laurent Blanc fez 4 alterações, mas ficou bem longe de ser bem-sucedido: a equipa atacava praticamente só com dois jogadores. Estava muito amarrada, e disponibilizou o jogo quase todo para os espanhóis. O excessivo medo da Espanha e a necessidade de substituir jogadores por motivos de desavenças, acabou por limitar muito o jogo de França, que permanecia praticamente em modo defensivo, apática e quase a assistir ao jogo dos espanhóis.
E claro que a excessiva substituição acabou por afectar a identidade e a forma de jogar da seleção francesa, o que foi muito prejudicial para o desempenho da seleção.

A França prometia muito nesta competição, mas a equipa fragmentou-se muito a meio do campeonato: os defesas franceses pareciam estranhar a táctica jogadora espanhola, porque ficavam apáticos com as diagonais espanholas - não é normal a equipa francesa, que já é experiente nestas andanças, estar tão estupefacta com o jogo adversário.
Parece que a motivação que a França obteve após a derrota com a Suécia, se evaporou rapidamente.


Itália 0 (4) X Inglaterra 0 (2)

Este foi até agora, o único jogo neste campeonato em que se sofreu muito para além dos 90 minutos. Foi até agora o único jogo do Euro 2012 em que as equipas acabaram os 90 minutos empatadas a zero, e tiveram que resolver o jogo com as grandes penalidades.
Apesar de ser dos jogos mais equilibrados nestes quartos-de-final, a Itália foi sem sombra de dúvidas muito mais dominadora, merecendo ganhar sem necessidade de prolongamento e penalidades. A Itália teve de longe muito mais oprtunidades de golo que a Inglaterra.
Na 1ª parte, Mario Balotelli esteve muito perto do golo duas vezes, mas que foram travados graças à enorme disciplina táctica dos ingleses. De facto, ao longo de todo o jogo a Itália fez inúmeras tentativas, mas que nem sempre eram bem concretizadas: a Itália teve sérios problemas de finalização.

Na 2ª parte, o primeiro momento verdadeiramente perigoso foi aos 51 minutos por parte da Itália: parecia um golo muito provável, mas que não o foi graças ao guarda-redes inglês, que mostrou ser uma peça fundamental para evitar a vitória italiana nos 90 minutos. A Itália continuou a dominar o jogo, mas depois dos 65/70 minutos a Itália deixou de ser tão atacante, o jogo estava a tornar-se previsível, o que foi aproveitado pela Inglaterra, para alterar a sua forma de jogo, mas ainda assim fez várias tentativas que foram impedidas pela perícia de John Terry e mais uma vez defendidas por John Hart, que mostrou porque é conhecido como um dos melhores gaurda-redes ingleses.

Foi um jogo sem grandes incidentes: só aos 81 minutos é que o árbitro Português  deu o 1º cartão amarelo a Barzagli, e depois aos 93 minutos outro cartão amarelo a Maggio.
O remate que se seguiu foi um dos momentos mais perigosos proporcionados pela Inglaterra. Este foi provavelmente o jogo de quartos-de-final em que o favoritismo estava mais equilibrado entre as duas equipas, mas que apesar de tudo a Itália conseguiu sobressair em posse de bola e tentativas de golo, que só foram travadas devido às dificuldades de finalização.

De facto, com o hoje de ontem a Itália mostrou ser mais do que merecedora de estar nas meias-finais e surpreendeu quem não a tinha como favorita: o favoritismo continua a pender para o lado almeão, mas a Itália pode continuar a surpreender.
A Itália é geralmente vista como uma seleção defensiva, mas as substituições de ontem mostraram p peso que pode ter como atacante. Como eu já disse, a Itália merecia vencer logo nos 90 minutos, fez tudo para isso, como o demonstram os 36 remates que fez (que acabaram sem êxito...). No entanto, a Inglaterra estava muito compacta do ponto de vista defensivo, impedindo que a superioridade de jogo da Itália se concretizase em golos. A Inglaterra fez um jogo sem nada de excepcional, e só se tornou mais dinâmico com a entrada de Carroll. Todo o jogo se centrou em Rooney, o que se traduziu numa equipa mais desfalcada.
A equipa inglesa teve problemas de qualificação, fazendo com que a equipa chegasse com sérios problemas físicos e muito desgaste à fase final deste campeonato. A defesa estava muito longe dos avançados - faltou energia e era muito previsível na sua forma de jogar. O sistema defensivo funcionou quase sempre bem. A táctica era organizada e rigorosa, mas ficou por aí: não conseguiu criar oportunidades de golo.
Quanto ao futuro, também a seleção inglesa passará por uma renovação dos seus jogadores, pois muitos deles estão a atingir o limite de idade para participarem nestas competições.

Quanto à equipa italiana, o lado direito tinha potencialidades para ganhar, mas o problema da Itália foi o eixo central.
Contra a Alemanha, a Itália terá que se proteger mais defensivamente e certamente não terá tanta posse de bola.
A Itália deverá continuar a apostar na mesma técnica que manteve no jogo contra a Iglaterra, e que se mostrou ser uma boa aposta.



Espanha e Alemanha seguem como favoritos, mas por aquilo que Portugal e Itália já mostraram, podem ocorrer muitas surpresas tanto na quarta como na quinta-feira. Uma coisa é certa: ninguém vai favorecer o jogo ao adversário, e tem capacidade para derrubar ou confirmar favoritismos.

Euro 2012: group B - winners

Euro 2012: Portugal nos quartos-de-final



Às 19h45 (20h45 na Polónia), saberemos se Portugal pode continuar a sonhar com a primeira vitória num Europeu

O apuramento de Portugal para os quartos-de-final só ficou mesmo assegurado no final do último jogo do grupo B. Neste que era chamado de "grupo da morte", todas as equipas (incluindo a Alemanha, a única equipa a somar só vitórias) poderiam ficar afastadas dos quartos-de-final.
Apesar do início menos bom, que devemos ter em conta que foi contra a Alemanha que até agora é a única seleção a somar só vitórias, a vitória, bem sofrida, contra a Dinamarca deu moral suficiente à equipa para o jogo contra a Holanda.
De facto, só uma vitória da Dinamarca por uma margem de um golo (com um resultado superior a 2-1 ou 1-0) frente à Alemanha é que poderia comprometer a passagem de Portugal, mesmo que ganhasse contra a Holanda. Mas, se a Dinamarca perdesse, Portugal poderia também perder e ainda assim se apurar.

No entanto, as melhores previsões acabaram por se realizar, e Portugal apurou-se sem margem para dúvidas com uma vitória sobre a Holanda, e com o ressurgimento da figura de Cristiano Ronaldo. Mas, apesar dos festejos e de todo o orgulho que os adeptos sentem na equipa portuguesa, esta teve uma atitude muito peculiar após a vitória: todos os jogadores, à excepção do capitão que teve que fazer as habituais e obrigatórias declarações, remeteram-se ao silêncio como forma de protesto face às duras críticas que eles sofreram, principalmente antes da vitória contra a Dinamarca. De facto, parece haver uma hipersensibilização da equipa face às críticas, reagindo de forma brusca e dando respostas cortantes a quem critique fortemente a equipa: por mais duras que as críticas sejam, a equipa não se pode ocmportar como se merecesse ser imune às críticas.

Mas convenhamos que, grande parte das críticas foram excessivas, sobretudo as que diziam respeito ao mau desempenho de Cristiano Ronaldo no jogo contra a Dinamarca. Como disse Paulo Bento (e com razão), Cristiano Ronaldo caiu nas "más graças" dos adeptos por ter falhado várias vezes em situações que talvez nem um amador falhasse, mas esquecendo-se que o apuramento de Portugal para o Europeu se deveu em muito a este jogador.

Depois de ter apenas jogado na Ucrânia, a seleção portuguesa desloca-se agora à Polónia para jogar em Varsóvia, onde vai deocrrer a segunda semi-final, e onde também a República Checa nunca jogou (apesar de ter ficado no grupo que jogou nesse estádio).
Aqui espera-se que o número de adeptos portugueses presnetes no estádio seja maior, bem como o optimismo para a vitória portuguesa.

No arranque do campeonato, as perspectivas não eram muito optimistas, não pela falta de qualidade dos jogadores, mas pelo grupo em que se encontravam e pela falta daquilo que os adversários possuiam: espírito de equipa. A derrota frente à Alemanha confirmou os piores receios pois, pelo histórico recente de confrontos até a Dinamarca (que obrigou Portugal a disputar o "play-off" de apuramento para este campeonato) parecia uma equipa difícil de superar. Mas, com a vitória frente à Holanda (que apesar de ter somado três derrotas, eram uma seleção com um ataque muito forte, que podria desorientar qualquer equipa menos preparada para tal), muitos sonham agora com a final.
Claro quem como disse Raúl Meireles, "é importante darmos um passo de cada vez" e pensar apenas no próximo jogo que tenham pela frente. Depois das três equipas que já defrontou, a República Checa pode ser um adversário a vencer sem a menor das preocupações. Mas é aqui que Portugal se pode iludir.
Apesar de já contar com uma derrota, que foi contra um dos eliminados do grupo, a República Checa afastou um dos co-anfitriões (a Polónia) e chegou ao primeiro lugar do seu grupo por mérito próprio.

Poderemos argumentar que, se Portugal tivesse ficado nesse que era considerado o grupo onde todos tinham as mesmas hipóteses, Portugal até poderia ter arrecadado as três vitórias, e se a República Checa tivesse ficado no grupo B, talvez não conseguisse liderar o grupo.

Mas convém recordar que a República Checa não é nenhuma "novata" nestas andanças (apesar de já estar longe o brilhantismo de outros tempos) e, com o favoritismo quase todo do lado de Portugal, a equipa jogará com muito menos pressão, e poderá surpreender tudo e todos, como já fez até aqui. Além disos, Portugal não pode cometer os erros que cometeu até aqui, nem ser tão passivo em momentos cruciais ou no arranque dos jogos (como no caso em que deu todo o domínio à Holanda, para conseguir marcar um golo).

Claro que, com o que Portugal tem mostrado, temos capacidade para sonhar bem alto neste campeonato!!!

Euro 2012: Group D - winners

Despite the bets point to the passage of France and England, both Sweden that was already rejected for the following phases, such as Ukraine that could still dream about the next phase, had a word to say in the final matches of group D. And indeed so it was: the victory of Sweden in their last match pushed France into 2nd place in the group, now having to face Spain, one of the great favorites on this championship.

France knew that even losing, would be accurate to the quarter-finals, and if it was just a goal, keeping the leadership of the group and face Italy.
In the first part, the most exciting moment was almost at the end when Benzema and Ribery led an attack which was unfortunately diverted the ball into the side of the opposing goal.

Benzema again had an opportunity early in the second part, which was soon joined another shot from Larsson, but that much more dangerous for the French goal. However, in 54 minutes, Lloris could not take anymore and Ibrahimovic on to hit the half-back to the back of the net after a good cross from Larsson, giving thus the first goal for Sweden.
France responded promptly with the replacement of Hatem Ben Arfa by Florent Malouda and a  dangerous shot by Yann M'Vila. Even with other attempts of the French team, was Sweden taht returned to shoot accurate: after Samuel Holmen hit the barring, in the aftermath, Larsson manages to score the second goal of Sweden.
And the most curious was France have lost the first time in 23 games against a team already eliminated by two defeats. Sweden got a smart strategy, attacking and not forgetting the defense.

As for the other game, resided in Ukraine the hopes that one of the organizers to continue in the league, at least beyond the group stage.
