If there were as expected, Spain and Italy would win their games and both teams would be cleared, and was in fact what happened.
Let's start with the big loser of the group, Ireland. Despite the disappointment of bid farewell of the Euro 2012 without a single victory, the Irish fans have maintained a positive spirit to the final whistle of the yesterday's game. Even Robbie Keane, advanced from the irish team showed their admiration and satisfaction for all the fair play that kept over the three games, to the point of showing disappointed by the team has not responded to the pride and support shown by fans. Jon Walters, another Irish team advanced, had a similar reaction.
Despite all the support in the stands, in the field, two goals from set pieces, showing a scenario not so optimistic and countered the recent past: since Trapattoni became Irish coach, his team played against Italy three times, tying double and gaining one. As for its opponent, Italy, only breath of relief after the completion of minutes offset from the other game, whether it qualified for the quarter-final.
Italy was required to win, but the other game could really affect the final classification of the group. In the first part with little exciting little is noticeable the effort on the part of Ireland to be able to reverse prior poor performances, is set to 35 minutes the first goal and nearly recahing the 90 minutes the second is marked. After stagnation with two draws, Italy managed to match the favoritism that it had on this group.
Moving on to another game, which also had little exciting in the first part, only in the last minute of the game, is that Croatia would be to know what was its destination in Europe. However, despite the goal by Jesu Navas that knocked the Croatian selection, this farewell to head up because in fact, managed to make their best showing in the tournament, and seriously concerned the teams cleared of the group. It was really by a very little that has not gone: the result against Italy was close to be another, which would grant them the right passage to the quarter-final. After all, managed to leave a good mark, thanks in large part to the great performance of Mario Mandzukic who many non-croats fans will miss in this championship. Despite the non-discharge, Croatia does form a positive balance.
Finally, I speak of Spain, the winner of this group who still saw the chances to lead the group well blurred, and on yesterday's games the shadow that everything could change and end up to not pass for the quarter-final.
Although they fully deserved the victory of yesterday and the leadership of the group, Spain had life more complicated than expected with this group. Only at the very end of the game, thanks to Fabregas and Iniesta, Navas managed a favorable outcome for Spain. Of the two teams ascertained, Spain follows as one favorite.
