Here are the comments two more choices.
I will now speak of Austria who returned last year after an absence of three years, much due to the fact that the festival has taken place in neighboring Germany. Unfortunately it is a country that, in addition to the victory in 1966 and have been a few times in the Top 10 until 1989, the truth is that, especially since 1990, the participation of Austria has been very weak and ruled by relatively low results.
Let's talk about the selection this year. This is one of national choices that i'm most happier to comment because the representation is far more comical of all: obviously in the good sense!
The choice fell on Tracksittaz, a coming double male from Mühlviertel, a region in southwestern Austria, bordering Germany. The song is sung in Mühlviertlerisch: a dialect spoken in this region of Mühlviertel, with strong links to German.
The title could not be more suggestive: "Woki mit deim Popo," or in English "Shake your ass."
The song bursts of energy and rhythm from beginning to end, is one that can be said to "get on board to kill"!
In fact, it is impossible to remain indifferent to the contagious rhythm of this music, and help smiling when you see the performance of the duet during the national final. Everything in this song is hilarious.
However, a song that wants to succeed have to go far beyond that.
This was one of two songs that the night of National Final went to the second phase, and obtained a majority of votes very little (or nothing) substantial: 51% versus 49% of the 2nd classified.
In 2nd place was rated artist and transvestite Conchita Wurst (wurst means sausage in German), very famous in Austria. The first time you see his performance, which will hatch over will be the black beard that does not fit at all with a thin body, long hair and women's clothes. In fact, without the detail of the beard, the artist could more easily pass for a woman. Who gives voice and body to this character is Tom Neuwirth, a decorator showrooms who became famous when he assumed the role of Conchita Wurst to participate in the talent contest Austrian "Die Große Chance," and surprised everyone with his extraordinary voice . Dismounting of her voice (his!!!!) be nice and have enormous potential, I did not think she was in the national final in sweat better (maybe problems of music).
The music he led to the national festival "That's What I Am," has what the winning song does not have: a message full of feelings anda own soul. In short: there isn't so empty of meaning as the winning song.
Unfortunately I do not know if it would have a lot of acceptance with the public, especially in very conservative countries.
Unfortunately not even with the winning song the prospects are very encouraging. As I have said it is over now the time that the results obtained by Austria were TOP10 or nearby. Last year for example, got the18th place in the final thanks to the judges who put the music in 5th place as part of the televoting, won the penultimate place.
Of the countries that gave more votes since 1975 to Austria and will be in the same semifinal that it, are Belgium, Greece and Ireland. Unfortunately since the introduction of the semifinals and the entry of the eastern countries that the scenario has changed a lot.
For me, the votes of juries is that can dictate whether or not the passage of this song to final, as the part of the televoting, it's possible to obtain a fairly good classification.
Ireland and Jedward
The Twins are back. They may have only stuck in 8th place last year, but they have one of the most striking stakes and most impressed not only by his personality as the originality of his work.
And it seems that Ireland has returned to play the same recipe. We are talking about the country with the most wins in the history of the whole Eurovision, seven in total, and that due to "weak" results since 2007 (except last year) thought about quitting several times. Anyway, everyone is entitled to some senseless tantrums ... only in 2007ranked last. It is true that only returned to be present in the final in2010 but ... it will be so bad compared with most other competitors?
If we were by that logic, since a good part of the country had given up.
Ahead: the recipe chosen for this year was the same as last year. The same artists with the same musical genre.
As for the song "Waterline" has its good qualities but it is impossible to avoid the comparison with last year. So, this song is not so well seen.
The personality and performance on stage so "eccentric", the twins will certainly ensure a transition to the final. And nothing assures me that they will not be able to obtain a much better place. Certainly as time goes by, the public will get used to this music and forget the last year.Because seeing well this song has its own personality where you can distinguish it from previous: at least to me reminds me of the pop music of the 80s and early 90s.
The victory was attributed to Jedward brothers, both on the part of the jury as part of the public. As for the 2nd place, Andrew Mannwith the song "Here I Am", it would still be an interesting choice to bring to Eurovision: the performance had a very unique style and original (which could be likened to that of Denmark), and the letter is far more rich than the "Waterline", there would be no chance incomparison with the performance of Jedward.
As one of the countries that received the most points in the history ofEurovision, the problem of the presence of the countries that give youmore points in the same semi that Ireland this year, it is not so important.
Still, it is noted that the five countries that since 1975 more points assigned to Ireland, will be present in the 1st semifinal along with it,only Switzerland and Austria.
However, what was said above in the case of Austria on the semifinals and the entry of more countries and their influence onvoting intentions, also applies to Ireland, like any other country.
Good luck to both countries!
