The Gospel of Judas

Here is the full video of one of the best documentaries about one of the most controversial books in human history: The Gospel of Judas.

But what this book has so controversial and special? What could bring great revelationsabout the last hours of Christ's life, and on the whole doctrine that the Catholic Church is based and which served as the foundation for all of Western civilization?

Not wanting to replicate the documentary, I just give a few introductory ideas.

As we know, Judas is seen as the great traitor who denounced his friend, leading him to death on the cross for a few coins.
In Dante's Inferno, Judas appears to be eaten by the devil himself, starting with the head!
In Western countries, is too offensive to call someone a "Judas."
However, in addition to his role supposedly monstrous, little is known about this character.
It was one of the closest disciples of Jesus, which makes his betrayal all the more repulsive
In all the Gospels, is described as an evil character, but worst of all is even the Gospel according to St. John, in which Judas before betray Jesus would be under direct influence of Satan.

And it was clear that on this character who created the whole anti-Semitism that still is felt, though since the Second World War, is almost residual.

Since that time, that Judas was always seen as a synonym for treachery and falsehood,is one of the most hated men ever and with one of most disgusting roles: the condemnation of the Christian Messiah.

However, this documentary shows a vision that can change all this. Coming from Egypt, aCoptic document was discovered that could revolutionize our vision: Shows a story acompletely different from what we, even unbelievers, grew up listening to.
From traitor, Judas becomes a hero.

This documentary goes back to the time of his writing, trying to show the reasons for the Church banish him, and tried to erase any memory that of it existed.
Written around the third century, presents Judas as merely an obedient disciple that onlyfulfill what Jesus asked of him.
Jesus presents Judas as his beloved disciple, because only he had truly understood the mission of Jesus, so rather than a curse, the mission of Judas was essential to the plan of salvation.

Of course this did not please the church at the time. And remember that the Gospel ofJudas was not the only one presenting a deviant doctrine from that of the canonical Gospels: those that are accepted by the Church as inspired literature.

After describing the origin, the documentary takes us back to when it was discovered in 1978 in a cave in egypt, where a peasant was looking for buried treasure in the tombs, and found it.
After several setbacks, which take the document to the black market, only much later it is discovered that, besides being an ancient document, we were facing one of the most revolutionary documents ever.

Earlier this century, in Switzerland, a team of experts proves the authenticity of the document and return it to the strenuous task of gathering up the fragments and reconstruct the document exactly as it was written hundreds of years ago.

And this is when, after the translation of what was possible, which makes a discovery thatshakes everything the Church has taught about Judas and the last hours of Christ's earthly life...

An extraordinary documentary of great historical accuracy that must be seen even among non-believers, because it leads us to think about many other things in our history.
Of course it helps to get many of the doubts of believers.
