Eurovision: walking to Baku 2012! (II)

Leaving a little issue of the economic crisis, back to the theme of Eurovision, to comment further two choices for the Festival this year: from France and from Denmark.

FRANCE AND ANGGUN
It has been noticeable since 2010 the effort of this country to get a good ranking in the festivalperhaps in part due to poor results that the country has achieved since 2003 (only in 2009 was in the Top 10more precisely in 8th place).
In 2010, the country has brought us a song full of rhythm and with a strong presence of African rhythms.
The music was really catchy and stay in the ear, hence the 8 th place in the televoting.Unfortunately, the vocal quality of the singer, Jessy Matador, compared with competitors left much to be desired, and so the vote of juris only gave France the 22nd place. The end result was only the 12th place.
It should be noted that when disclosing the name of Jessy Matador and the music he would interpret, television responsible for selecting said it was never expecting this song to win.

As last yeardespite being a style of music I enjoy listening to, I could only hear the music once, when he performed live at the Final. Not disregarding the singer's vocal qualities, the fact is that this music does not captivate me in concreteAnd apparently the international juries neither, because only managed 12th placeAlong with the 15th place with televoting (which was to admit it was a good ranking for a song that the public is not accustomed to seeing nothing at all in this type of festival), the end result was also the15th place.
We should remember that it was also appointed as a possible winner along with Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

This year comes a bet a little different from previous ones. The artist is Anggunan Indonesian singer, 37 years old and naturalized Frenchwith the song "Echo (You and I)"Again the choice was in charge of France Télévision, the national public broadcasterOnce again being an internal selectionI can not make comments on other songs in the competition.
Regarding music, I confess that I had heard it several times to get to form an opinion.
It has some unexpected changes along the approximately 3 minutes long. I can not tell if it was the best choice possible (because there are no opponents), but I think the need to submit a song to impress and surpass all others and guarantee a good place in the final of Eurovision, the song resulted in a somewhat confusing in terms of rhythm and ends up not having a well defined style.
Since there was no an official public presentation (except one that circulates on the Internet, of the performance during the final selection in MaltaI confess that for me was neither good or bad), I can not analyze the performance of the artist. Howeverthe long and solid careerdo not make me doubt the musical gifts of Anggun.
However, given the already existing competition, just a good live performance that appeals to the jury, will guarantee a high rating. But since France is a country that is pay to go directly to the Final (something I'll never understand and accept), at least the 26th place is already secure.

DENMARK AND SOLUNA SAMAY
Now for Denmark, which does not fail a final of Eurovision since 2008, and in the last two years has managed to stay in TOP5: 4th place in 2010 (mainly due to televoting, which put the music on that 3rd place - for jury still managed a 7th place, which corresponded to the 4th place overall) and 5th place in 2011 (thanks only to judges who put the music in 3rd place, while in the televoting, only stayed for an unjust 18th place, which led the country to 5th place).
This year the chosen was Soluna Samay, the singer who, along with his band performed the song "Should've Known bettter." Se won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix2012the festival of choice of song to represent the country at Eurovision this year in Baku.
After a first roundthe nine songs in the competition (after the disqualification of one of them), the Danish jury and the viewers selected the best 3.

These three were subjected to a second vote, this time also by viewers and a Danish jury, but this time including the boards of four European countries which also participate in Eurovision: Azerbaijan (which included the duo Ell & Nikki winner of last year edition), Germany (which included singer Roger Cicero, who represented the country at Eurovision in 2007), Norway (which included singer Alexander Ryback, who won the Eurovision in 2009 with the song that received the most points in the history of Eurovision) and Russia (with the country's representative in the 2011 editionAlexey Vorobyov).
Only the jury of Azerbaijan, Denmark and televoting attributed the victory to the winning song. The remaining foreign judges assigned the highest score to 2nd place (Jesper Nohrstedt with the song "Take Our Hearts").

Although I prefer the 2nd place, I can not stop praising the originality of the artist and the whole band. The music is also unusual, and a good performance combined with good voice quality probably will bring another success to this country of Scandinavia.

In both countries it is clear the effort to present good choices. However, perhaps as much excitement and so much effort can sometimes be too much.
